I finally broke down today and submitted for a new phone for work. I've had this one since I started this job in 2006. In the meantime, all of my colleagues have upgraded multiple times.
I think I'm due.
The phone thinks it is, too. It has started dying recently. Just... shutting off for no reason. And, randomly freezing up.
I'll miss you, old friend.
A long time ago, I wrote a small blurb about how annoying all the crap on MySpace was. I guessed that it wouldn't be too much longer that it was really going to be that popular.
Nailed that one.
There have been a surprising amount of announcements from several companies about new products and technologies throughout the day. Some could be quite useful... Especially this little diddy I found: Vilcus Plug Dactyloadapter.
Other announcements include amalgamation projects by Google and Apple (engadget), and a cell phone capable of doing the stuff it can do for Jack Bauer - with a 200GB memory, 40x optical zoom digital camera, high resolution screen, and instant transfer of huge files. Exciting!
One of the great ways I've found to increase traffic is to submit specific articles to www.digg.com. I won't be adding links to any of my personal blogs, but my computer advice column - The FOUNTAIN - will have a digg link on each article.
Please digg any articles you find interesting in that section. It increases my readers and site traffic.
I've decided to start a bi-weekly article which will describe things that I've learned about computers. My intention is to help a range of people - from less computer literate to very computer literate - to improve their skills.
As anybody who knows anything about computers would, I admit that I don't know a great deal about computers. I have a wide and solid knowledge base, but there is so much to know, it's impossible to know even half of what's really out there. I am, however, very proficient when it comes to: daily tasks, calendering, email and communication, applications, setting up computers (hardware and software), networking, graphic design, website design, and troubleshooting common problems.
My knowledge is specific to PCs and Microsoft operating systems. I know enough about macs that I don't want to know more.
The articles can be found in my Fountain Blog and will be avaiable to everyone.
